We strongly recommend that you do not sell or give away anything you own for an amount below its fair market value. If you do so, your bankruptcy could be delayed and/or the trustee might be able to get that property back from whomever you gave or sold it to. It could also affect your chances of being successful in your bankruptcy case.
A good way to think about fair market value is to think about how much you could sell the item for at a garage sale or on a website like Craigslist.
